Calling all like-minded medical professionals for Calling all like-minded medical professionals for mutual aid clinics popping up around western North Carolina! In response to the devastation of Hurricane Helene, medical doctors, nurses, EMTs, street medics, elder care workers and many other medical professionals have collaborated on the ground to make and staff pop-up clinics and make door-to-door wellness checks in some if the most isolated and cut off communities. They have helped find and fill needed medications and mobility aids and provided transportation when needed. As long-term response efforts take over, more needs are being identified in more areas, more medic support is also needed. This work is a labor of love and solidarity. This is work that highlights the massive failure of the state to bring critical care to its residents, before, during, and after the visible disaster of the most recent climate change caused storm has passed. Did you know that the @mutualaiddisasterrelief net Did you know that the @mutualaiddisasterrelief network has co-conspirators across the world? Wherever allies on the ground are organizing, mobilizing, and planting the seeds of mutual aid, we want to support that growth. In the Philippines, Pirate Studio is an autonomous space that promotes radical perspectives and creative resistance against the oppressive, capitalist system responsible for destroying ecosystems, climate chaos, and violating human rights. They also promote and practice mutual aid and have been caring for their community through the Covid health crisis and numerous typhoons that have impacted the country over the years. In just the last few months, Pirate Studio has provided local disaster relief support through fires, landslides, and back to back typhoons. The most recent typhoon to hit the island, Typhoon Trami (Kristine), compounded the existing devastation and flooded camps of already displaced community members. We are helping to funnel supplies and resources to Pirate Studio mutual aid to continue their work in impacted communities. Collectives across the Carolinas are creating comm Collectives across the Carolinas are creating communities of care as they continue to respond to and meet the needs of those impacted by Hurricane Helene. When, not if, the next climate disaster hits, folks from holler to holler will be better prepared to respond and rebuild with shared skillsets and networks of support. With winter and the long road to recovery setting in, efforts have shifted to ensuring shelter, warmth, clean water and power, and relief goods needed to survive the economic crisis created by capitalism. @mutualaiddisasterrelief and allies with @ashevilletoollibrary @triangle.mutual.aid @firestormcoop @_roar_wnc @avlsurvival @bewellavl and many others are implementing and developing infrastructure and acquiring critical machinery and equipment that ensures regional autonomy, resilence, and community survival in the climate chaos that is now. Did you know we also help with emergency comms? Af Did you know we also help with emergency comms? After Hurricane Helene, we went to Black Mountain and installed a temporary cell service site for Verizon and ATT with a Starlink uplink. We had to helicopter the equipment in and take it up on gators. This cart has satellite data uplink, e-femto base stations (to provide local cellular that is sent to the wireless carrier over IP, aka network extenders), wifi, a Honda generator with aux fuel tank, and a shore power input. We also delivered insulin and other supplies.

Creating messages of support, sharing art, donating supplies, distributing supplies, caring for animals impacted by disasters, and much more. We believe everybody, regardless of any difference has important contributions to cocreating the better world we know is possible, and a communal recovery should include everybody. There are even opportunities for joy and play after a disaster, safely, with parents and guardians.
