(Biography authored by Suncere Shakur)
Sophie Dimov is a young beautiful nursing student from Australia. She is
the point person for Team 3 (Ekip John Brown.) our newly form Team 3. From
day one this sister has shown a great love and compassion for those who are
in need. At 23 years old Sophie, on her own, has travelled to Haiti and plugged
right in to working with physicians and nurses to dress and treat wounds
14 hours a day in Petionville, Haiti (east of Port-au-Prince.) Within four
days of her arrival in Haiti Sophie also opened a pipe line of medical supplies
to a community clinic in Port-au-Prince. She has also delivered 60 pounds of
medical supplies to Petionville as well as Jacmel and in the course of the
trip treated over 30 Haitians. Sophie speaks French and is learning
Haitian Creole on the fly.
She is working with other Team 3 members on nutrition relief as well, one family
at a time. To help her in this effort, we are asking
for donations of food: rice, beans, water, as well as money for gasoline so
Sophie can continue her work in solidarity with local residents such as Mr.
Lickenson Grac'on, who uses his car to transport volunteers wherever they need
to go. (Before the earthquake destroyed his business, Mr. Grac'on was an auto
parts dealer, and he is trying to get his business back together so other cars
in his town can work again.)
(Webmaster's note: this site is no longer looking for donations; check
the links on the main page for related groups which are still operating to
see where to donate money or supplies.)
